So you think Windows8 is cool?

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 27, 2013, 3:16 AM
reposted from a fellow Anon on /g/. he perfectly summed why you should not downgrade to, or keep windows8 on your PC and i totally second this.

----------------------------------
The issue isn't with how artistically friendly the metro theme looks. The issue is about letting Microsoft botnet your entire computer.

>Letting Microsoft know everything you download and install on your computer.

>Letting Microsoft scan every picture on your hard drive
[link]

>The man who invented Windows 8 knew it was so pig disgusting he quit Microsoft shortly after release
[link]

People who install Windows 8 are seriously tech illiterate and have no idea what the fuck is going on.

>But Windows 8 is so modern and hip!
No, no its fucking not. AOL was not modern in the 1993 and its sure as hell not modern in fucking 2013.

The fact that you have to BUY extensions like Start8, the fact that you have to BUY extensions to re-enable aero, the fact that you have to EDIT THE REGISTRY to bypass fucked up Windows 8 coding, means the OS is shit.

Microsoft is already abandoning Windows 8 for Windows Blue. Windows 8 is basically Windows Vista, or Windows 2000, all over again.

-------------------------

plus, let's admit it, that minimalism is ugly as fuck.

i think this could be calculated, that laptop by example's a 2008 toshiba. japan stuff are a bit more durable than the average laptop on the materials and soldering, but knowing the amount of shocks and degradations that machine had for the time i used it (dropped, kicked, etc.) i'd say 5 more years. however, the desktop PC's theoretically good to operate for another decade.

No. the interface is a bit sloppy, more clicks to do simple functions. and well is designed for touch devices. for Desktop PCs is not really good. besides that is exactly like windows 7. the Kernel is almost the same.
but well lets remember the Microsoft Law.. Windows XP = Good / Windows Vista = bad / windows 7 = good / Windows 8 = ?

He was talking more about security issues than interface.

Which makes me wonder, would this be a good system for a purely offline device?

NT 4 + SP6 was the bees-knees. Still run XP Pro right now. Like others said, there's no point going to 8 when 7 has shown its flexibility.
