Artist's Comments

i'd start up a site like that :]

note : unlike deviantart, i would never ban anyone supporting /b/ activity, or drawing "underage" toons.

...Patachu was being just an exception.

webdesign tryouts.
wondering if it's a good idea to make a mix of colors like this, or if i should use a more uniform color, like deviantart, or this one [link]

then; not sure if it'll be something but i'm studying the possibility to host an art community, picking something like danbooru.
being open source is a good thing but then; i need to learn a language and handle php/mysql/java n shit.
afterall, thanks for the comment!

I love the layout and style! But i think you should keep the colors a bit more uhm... Harmonic (?)

Like using different shades of the green you used in the header for the different colored sections, or just mildly different hues of a single color.

HA. i don't know what im saying. XD

thx that's what i was thinking too. random colors would go better on a more numerous and more varied environement contrasted with a greyish b/g
i should really be keeping on a dark interface with green accents.
thx for the comm' !

It's funny because I just spent 2 weeks coding up my own website with a submission system, and I want to point out that you need to know an awful lot about mySQL queries and PHP optimizations; You also have to have rock-solid security, which is really hard to do (hence why all the art sites suffer from hacking and XSS attacks). Of course, while I can make my website work, it doesn't exactly look very good :P

In order to host an art community, you need 3 things: The website design and coding, a huge-ass server to handle the ridiculous bandwidth required for an art site, and a community to use it.

Also, one bit of critique on the website design: The buttons look strangely out of place (the userpage/gallery/etc. ones). It seems like they'd work with a solid background or possibly a gradient. Other than that its a fantastic layout. I think the varied color scheme works very well, provided you have a distinct primary color (which in this case is grey). Like the guy above me said though, the different colors might work better if they were more related (e.g. green blue and purple).
